Stagnation

So, today’s post is an illustration I’ve been wanted to do since the beginning of the year but only now managed to keep up with all the delayed work to make it happen.

I read the “Stagnation” poem, by a fellow blogger who is a writer and a Woman, nonetheless, and after I did I knew immediately I wanted to draw it, because it was extremely visual and rich in a kind of simplicity that actually adds depth to the writing while making things clearer.

The writer goes by BARELYHERENORTHERE. Please do read the poem and visit the blog.

I AM A TEACHER BY PROFESSION. I LIVED IN THE UK ALL MY LIFE AND HAVE JUST BEGUN A NEW LIFE AND A NEW JOURNEY WITH MY FAMILY. WE MOVED TO KOLKATA A FEW MONTHS AGO. I HAVE A 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND A 2 YEAR OLD SON. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE GOOD TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCES AND POSSIBLY WORK OUT WHAT OR WHO IT IS I AM NOW.

  1. Wow! I LOVE this illustration! Its suits the writing very well. I love the bit in the poem “just because you aren’t going anywhere, doesn’t mean you are doing nothing”, but you seem to have captured a slightly dark element to this….almost wistful, plaintive. Its lovely :D

    1. Hi, dear! Yes, I think the poem has an undertone to it, an indecision, not being in the most fostering environment and, of course, frustration, so I wanted that plus the radiance of that same passage :) Glad it made an impression on you, the artist!
